Silver Technologies intelligent SPAM and anti-virus technology is included with all managed hosting accounts. Silver Technologies has combined a multi-level anti-virus with intelligent SPAM and invalid E-Mail detection to provide the best possible level of protection for your important emails.
After performing years of research on SPAM, viruses and other malicious E-Mail content, and surveying many of our clients, we have developed our own proprietary SmartMail content gateway for your benefit.

Every email sent through Silver Technologies' systems passes through the SmartMail gateway, conceptualised and designed to verify authenticity, and save you time and money. A high-level overview of the SmartMail gateway is illustrated on the right hand side of this page.

Step 1:
The header of each E-Mail is processed for compliance with the RFC specifications. All legitimate mail clients conform to these standards, but spam E-Mail commonly contains errors.


Step 2:
Y our email is passed to several independent anti-virus scanning engines. ZIP files are opened and scanned (if they are not encrypted or password-protected).


Step 3:
Having completed the other two steps, each email will be vigorously scored on over 500 different points pertaining to the mail server it was originally sent from, body text, email structure, hyperlink text, subject text, etc. Emails that score over a predefined threshold will be reviewed by our engineers on a periodic basis and held in a quarantine area on our systems for a period of six weeks, after which time, if you have not flagged any missing messages, they will be discarded.
